One of our main roles is to help people reduce excessive clutter (paper, books, clothing, shoes, household/office  items, you name it) We work alongside individuals and businesses to assist them in regaining control of their surroundings, their time, their paper, and their systems. 

We motivate you on how to reduce the excessive clutter, what to let go of and what to keep, help you to organise and set up a system that works for you and help you maintain that system.  

We encourage and support our clients to simplify and streamline their possessions so that they can feel happier and function more efficiently and effectively at home and at work and..............we LOVE what we do. 

Clutter is a very personal term and everyone's is different. We all have various levels of, and standards about what we experience as clutter in our homes. Clutter is basically a tangled mass of delayed decisions that can build up easily when we are busy or distracted. 

It can be really difficult to make these decisions about our belongings when there are so many other demands on our time, energy and attention. Clutter also represents memories of the past as well as aspirations of the future which is why it can emotional and difficult to let go. 

Our home should be our castle. A place to retreat to for calmness. A place to shut out the world and its chaos. If we have chaos at home/in our workspace, it can be very stressful, overwhelming and can deplete our energy and concentration levels. A space doesn’t have to be perfect but just getting it under control with some organisation can be a huge stress reliever.

Many clients say that decluttering is like losing weight. It makes them feel physically lighter and more energetic, happier, in control. Other clients talk about experiencing a sense of freedom and relief.

How many times were you told off as a child for not tidying your room ? Yet how many of our parents/carers actually taught us HOW to tidy up  ? How can we expect to be tidy if we were never taught ?

You can do courses in Photography, Cooking, Massage, Accountancy etc. but you would probably struggle to find a college anywhere that offer courses in tidying and organising so it is often self-taught. It is also assumed that good tidying and organisation is acquired with experience and therefore doesn't require training but this is simply not true. Don't worry......it is never too late to learn. 

By using some simple methods and systems, you can start to escape the vicious cycle of clutter. Remember..... it often takes more effort to be disorganised than organised. 

Hoarding is often a misused term, very misunderstood and due to some recent TV programs, the definition has been diluted down. Having a lot of stuff or a cluttered kitchen/ disorganised bedroom does not necessarily make you a hoarder.

In June 2018, the World Health Organisation (WHO) released its new International Classification of Diseases (ICD11) and hoarding is now classified as a medical condition.

“Hoarding disorder is characterised by accumulation of possessions due to excessive acquisition of or difficulty discarding possessions, regardless of their actual value. Excessive acquisition is characterized by repetitive urges or behaviours related to amassing or buying items. Difficulty discarding possessions is characterized by a perceived need to save items and distress associated with discarding them. Accumulation of possessions results in living spaces becoming cluttered to the point that their use or safety is compromised. The symptoms result in significant distress or significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational or other important areas of functioning.”

Hoarding Disorder was recently recognised by the NHS as a specific and complex mental disorder and according to the Institute of Psychiatry, 1 in 20 people in the UK are considered to be suffering. That's nearly 3 million people !!

Is it because we don't have enough storage or is it because we have too much stuff or is it both ?

Due to a behavioural shift in the past 30 years, the consumer’s approach to shopping has drastically changed. Shopping became a very popular pastime and items are cheaper and more accessible than ever before. As the consumption of material goods is so closely linked to our emotional state, it is easy to develop unhealthy habits with "retail therapy". Now, we are starting to become more mindful of what we buy, where it comes from and the impact it has on the environment but still for many of us, our homes are pretty full. 

Research from Cambridge University found that the UK’s newly built homes, at an average of 76 sq. m, are the smallest by floor area in all of Europe and 55% of UK dwellings falling short of the accepted internal space standard entirely. Also, the UK has more storage units than anywhere else in Europe and in 2017, we were crowned the self-storage capital, with 47 per cent of the total European and the industry is rapidly growing. Storage containers can be very useful and serve a purpose if used over a short period of time but..... if used for longer, they can become very expensive. 

At the end of the day, we need to be more mindful and let our space dictate how much stuff we can put in it. If your cupboards are full, that should be one indication to stop buying more things and/or to adopt a 'one in/one out' system to maintain this space. There are many clever storage solutions out there but by reducing the sheer volume of our possessions and setting up a system, will make it easier to store these items and most importantly, to know where they are when you want them.  

This will depend on how quickly you are able to make decisions about the items in your home. It also depends on your energy levels and how many breaks you will need to take during a session but there is no set speed as you will be treated as an individual and the work will take place at a pace you are comfortable with. 

Decluttering can be physically and emotionally tiring so we would suggest you take a few 5 minutes breaks during the session and would also suggest that we work no more than 6 hours a day and no more than 2 days back to back at a time. 

Decluttering doesn’t have to be done all in one go. We can help kick start you on your first session/s and then leave you to continue on your own for a while if preferred. We can also offer virtual sessions via Skype or Facetime etc. to help keep the motivation going and then return for further face to face session/s.

This will depend on what you need help with. A cupboard ? A room ? A garage ? A whole house ? Everyone’s project is different.

We charge a flat rate of £25 (weekday rate) per hour regardless as to what is involved. 

Most people prefer a one-to-one experience but if required, we can add another member of our team to a session for an additional £20 per hour.

YES absolutely. Only you know how special or relevant an item is or not and whether it is something that you wish to keep or let it go from your home. 

We work alongside you for most of the time unless you know that you want a whole area/cupboard to go without any input or decision making from yourself.

Everyone is very different so there is no one-size-fits-all approach and each job is tailored to you as an individual and your individual needs. 

As with any project, it is important to plan the first steps. What room is bothering you the most ? What space is causing you the most hassle day-to-day ? We recommend starting in a place that can make an immediate difference yet won’t be too demanding on you emotionally. Sometimes though it is necessary to consider starting in an area i.e. hallway or landing in order to clear a space to make it easier and safer to move items around. It is also very important to remember that it will need to get worse in order for it to get better. There is no way to avoid temporary disorder when emptying out wardrobes/cupboards etc. but once you know this, it can help you mentally prepare.  The bottom line is though, it doesn’t matter so much where you start – just that you do.

We have a short “Right Tidy Project Form” with some questions to get you thinking about your project. This can help you identify your problem areas, objectives for wanting to do this and your end goals. You can either fill this in and return it to us before our initial consultation or we can do it together over the phone. Please contact us for a copy of this form. 

You do but we can accompany you on trips to your local recycling centre and charity shops during the session and/or we can also take away one car boot load and deliver it to a charity shop of your choosing (where possible) after each session. 

We do not have a waste carriers license so any items that require specialist disposal will need to be contracted in separately by you.

We will never force you to part with anything you don’t want to.  These are your belongings and only you will know if you are ready to let something go but part of our job is to help you tackle procrastination. If we avoid the process of decluttering, we trade in short-term discomfort for long term dysfunction but it is your space, your journey and in your time.

At Right Tidy, we like to point any items that are not required in the most environmentally conscious direction as possible. Many of us are guilty of throwing things away with our general rubbish without checking first to see if there is a more eco-efficient process we could use. When people think of recycling, it is often we just think of plastic, paper and glass. However, there are unknowingly many more household and office items that can be reused or recycled. 

Everyone’s local area/Council will have different recycling facilities and sadly, some items cannot be recycled. We can help you work out what can be recycled, reused and donated and can suggest charities that will benefit from your donations. Depending on some of the items, it might be necessary for you to consider hiring a mini skip.   

One person's junk is another person's treasure and selling any unwanted belongings can bring in some decent money. There are quite a few places you can sell your stuff online like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree etc. but do be aware that it can take time and effort to list, photograph, answer questions and arrange postage/delivery etc. 

Taking your belongings to a local car boot sale can also be worthwhile (and a bit of fun) as long as you don't end buying and acquiring other people's clutter whilst you are there !! When considering selling at a boot sale or online, the big question you need to ask yourself is .........."Is it worth my time ?" 

We don't sell stuff on your behalf but during our session/s, we can help you research and identify what might sell well and even help you get set up as an online seller. Alternatively, depending where you are based, there are companies out there that will do this on your behalf for a fee. 

We are happy to help you relocate items to more appropriate locations, within reason. However heavy/bulky items i.e. refrigerators, sideboards etc. may require the assistance of more people or specialist equipment. You may wish to get a friend, neighbour or handyman lined up to help with these specific items. 

If you aren’t able to find anyone, do let us know and we can look to source this service local to you and we will only instruct their services once their time/cost have been agreed with yourself. 

Whilst we aren't a cleaning company as such, during the process of decluttering there will be a certain amount of cleaning tasks (i.e. wiping out/disinfecting spaces, dusting, hoovering etc.) that needs to take place before we start re-organising. This we can help with. 

However, if the space in which we are working in is assessed and needs a deep clean or has issues such as infestations/mould/asbestos etc. then you will need to contract in the services of a specialist cleaning company separately. If you need help finding one, please let us know. 

Right Tidy HQ is slap bang in the heart of Wales, just outside the stunning market town of Llanidloes. As Wales is a big country with very few Professional Organisers around to support people, we are happy to travel. 

The first 10-mile radius is free (20 miles in total) and then we charge 50p per mile calculated from our postcode to the postcode of the address where we are working. We do not charge for our time to travel. 

If you are not close by and you would like a 2 x day session back to back, we charge a £50 overnight fee which goes towards our accommodation.

First things first we need to have a chat on the phone. This will give us a chance to get to know each other and to work out what you would like to achieve. We will ask you a few questions and take a few details about you and your project. We can either email you a copy of our Client Registration Form for you to fill in and return it back to us or we can fill it in together over the phone.

We are incredibly discreet with our presence so there are no flashing lights, sirens or sign written vehicles. We will have a small box of tricks to start with and a big smile. 

New Clients - 50% of the scheduled hours + travel rate (if applicable) is payable, 1 week in advance to confirm a new booking. This is non-refundable but can be transferred to another date/session. An invoice and receipt will be issued once payment has been received. Payments should be made via BACs or Paypal. 

Existing Clients -An invoice will be issued to you at the end of each session. This invoice is either payable on the day or within 7 days. Payments can either be made via BACs or Paypal, cash or cheques (made payable to Right Tidy). 

Our bank details are shown at the bottom of our invoices.  

Time for organising payment will be factored into the session time at the end.

Firstly, so that we can maximise our time together, the least amount of interruptions you can have during the session, the better. For example, having phone calls, emails, text messages, visitors, young children, pets etc. only serve as a distraction. Whilst we will take little breaks, it is important for you to focus your attention otherwise you are paying us to wait which is not productive or cost effective for you. During a full day session, we will take 1/2 hour-1 hour break for lunch (clients's preference). There is no need to worry about feeding us, we will bring our own lunch.

Secondly, there is no need to purchase any storage solutions prior to our visit. It is better to declutter to start with, look at what you want to keep, then organise the space/storage. Also, you would be amazed what you already have in your home that we can re-use and re-purpose. 

Lastly, and most importantly.....please remember to breathe !!! Sounds simple but we are all guilty of not taking enough decent lung filling, oxygen enriching breaths that will calm our nerves and anxious thoughts. It is only natural that you will be feeling overwhelmed or anxious about our visit and the next step on your decluttering/ organising journey but……. please don't worry. Please remember we are here to help, not take over. We will never do anything that you are not comfortable with. You will be respected and you will be supported and any decisions made, will be your decision.

The boring but very important bit. Our T&C's document is basically our contract with you.
